All of a sudden, my friends and family turned to the Keto Diet. For those of you who don’t know what it is, the ketogenic diet is a very low-carb, high-fat diet that puts your body into a metabolic state called ketosis. During this state, your body burns fat into energy with great efficiency. This diet does not seem too hard, and seems very beneficial to those who are looking to lose weight.

The natural transition from the previous post, Scotch Eggs, is to create a keto burger that will not compromise in taste! You will use the remaining meat mix to make the most delicious patty, while using keto friendly zucchini fries with yum yum sauce to round out your dish.

Having a mise en place with these three bowls and having your baking sheet ready will help you be organized and clean. Try to keep one hand for mixing the zucchini with egg was and the other to coat it with the mix.

Yummy Keto Burger with Zucchini Fries

This keto friendly burger recipe is the perfect way to enjoy your afternoon! With zucchini fries and yum yum sauce, keep your keto diet strong!

ingredients:

Main
  • 1 1b ground beef
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp rosemary (dried)
  • 1 tsp basil (dried)
  • 1 tsp salt (kosher)
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup kale chips 
  • 1 pepper jack cheese slice
Yum Yum Sauce
  • 1 cup mayo
  • 1 tbsp melted butter
  • 1/2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp water
Zucchini Fries
  • 1 zucchini
  • 1 tsp basil (dried)
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic salt
  • ½ tsp curry powder
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp avocado oil

instructions

Main
  1. Mix all ingredients and only 1 egg together and form patties and put them in refrigerator (up to one day)
  2. Preheat pan on medium heat. Put butter and patty on flipping only once. When flipped, put cheese on top of burger patty
  3. On separate pan, make fried eggs, and place on top of burger
Yum Yum Sauce
  1. Mix all ingredients together until evenly spread through and put in refrigerator until ready to serve
Zucchini Fries
  1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit (218C)
  2. Mix basil, pepper, garlic salt, curry powder, and Parmesan cheese into a bowl
  3. In a separate bowl whisk the egg
  4. Cut zucchini half-length and half-width. Cut length way into two or four pieces depending on how thick you want your fries (16-32 pieces)
  5. Put zucchini cuts into egg wash, then into the seasoning mix, then place onto lined baking tray with parchment paper. Drizzle the avocado oil on top and put them into the oven
  6. Bake for 20 minutes, flipping at 10 minutes, and serve and eat immediately
Tips
  1. Forming and putting the patties in the refrigerator will help keep it's form better
  2. You can use any cheese you like
  3. I tried salting the zucchinis before putting in the oven, but did not help with the crispiness of the fries
  4. You may want to dry off stickiness or wetness from the zucchini with a towel before egg wash
  5. Play around with different herbs and spices!
